NYFW: Sera Sloane for R+Co at Maisie Wilen
For Maisie Wilen’s Spring/Summer 2023 New York Fashion Week show, lead hairdresser and R+Co Global Educator Sera Sloane used R+Co to achieve pushed back and smooth hair looks.
The Maisie Wilen Spring/Summer 2023 collection explores content evolving in a digital world. The designer referenced computer-generated imagery (CGI) and special effects techniques as the inspiration so that the collection can be manipulated digitally. Even the show's greenscreen set was designed to enable digital alteration of the collection.
R+Co Global Educator and lead hairdresser Sera Sloane created multiple hair looks for the show, although many of the model’s hair was left natural. “For a lot of the styles, we’re just celebrating the models as they are and not even touching their hair, which is super cool, but we’re creating looks that include strong graphic parts. It creates this almost masculine, pushed back style featuring strong finger and comb lines,” Sloane says.
Step 1: Brush hair straight back using a comb, then apply COOL WIND pH Perfect Air Dry Crème all over.
Step 2: Apply CONTINENTAL Glossing Wax and work it through the hair and continue to push the hair back by using fingers as a brush to create strong sections and to help emphasize a wet, finished look.
Step 3: Use DART Pomade Stick around the hair line using fingers and a brush to secure any fly aways or apply the stick directly to the hair.
Step 4: Apply TWO-WAY MIRROR Smoothing Oil from mid-lengths to ends for high shine. Lock in the style with OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray.
