NYFW: Bobby Michael at Tanner Fletcher for R+Co

At Tanner Fletcher’s S/S ‘23 NYFW presentation, the designers created a dreamlike prom experience, with traditional elements but without labels.

“We chose models of all different ages, skin tones, sexualities and genders for this prom experience, and created different scenes throughout the presentation, a dance floor with a band playing, a school bathroom, a bedroom scene, a tailor shop, a beauty salon, and we took our look book images in front of a classic prom backdrop,” the designers say.

Lead hairdresser Bobby Michael, R+Co global educator, says the hair looks stemmed from the idea of inclusivity, celebrating all genders, textures and eras.

“We used R+Co to achieve throwback looks with a modern twist—knowing they would last the entire evening,” @thebobbymichael says.

All models’ were prepped with RODEO STAR Thickening Foam for dramatic volume, density and lift.

Pompadours we’re prepped with MOTORCYCLE Flexible Gel. Hair was blown out and hand styled with ZIPPER Multitasking Styling Lotion, and secured with OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray and VICIOUS Strong Hold Flexible Hairspray. Extra volume and texture was achieved with ZIG ZAG Root Teasing + Texture Spray.
