How To Add Moisture, Shine + Definition to 4C Hair

In this style breakdown from Australia's William Webb, unlock the haircare and products needed for this 4C finish.

After William Webb, creative director at Ella & Jade salon in Australia, slightly softened the shape of this look using elements of graduation, he reached for R+Co HIGH DIVE Moisture & Shine Creme to prep the hair.

“For 4C texture, I lean toward moisturizing products, as we want as much bounce and shine as possible,” says Webb, creative director at Ella & Jade salon in Australia, who has worked at Fashion Weeks around the globe and won many awards for his hairdressing talents—including Queensland Hairdresser of the Year.

“I avoid anything with too much hold as the curl pattern is already quite strong and we are trying to create a slightly looser and more defined curl,” he says. “HIGH DIVE is perfect on this texture as it delivers maximum moisture.”

Working in small sections, Webb then applied TURNTABLE Curl Crème before setting the hair in bendy rods.

“TURNTABLE helps to support the curl and add an element of anti-frizz and definition,” Webb says.

After unwinding the bendy rods, Webb picked out the curls slightly and finished with a spray like TROPHY Shine + Texture Spray, for texture with flexibility and dry shine.
