“Whodunnit!” Exclusive Backstage Insights: R+Co BLEU x Anna Sui FW24

At the Anna Sui NYFW FW24 show, Garren, legendary stylist and founder of R+Co BLEU, curated hair looks that seamlessly embodied Anna's signature aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from Anna's fascination with mystery novels and artistic influences, Garren infused the hair looks with a touch of nostalgia from the early '90s, while also incorporating a contemporary twist.

"Our goal was to infuse a touch of grunge into the hair, while still maintaining a sense of elegance," Garren says. "Each model received personalized treatment based on their unique hair type and condition."

Tailoring the approach to suit individual needs was vital. "We selected the right shampoo and conditioner for each model, ensuring that their hair received the care it needed," Garren says. "Whether it was fine, straight, curly or damaged, we had the perfect products to address every concern."

To revitalize overly processed hair, Garren turned to R+Co BLEU's Super Style Crème, providing much-needed nourishment and shine. "Our focus was on customization, ensuring that each model's hair received the attention it deserved," he says.

Long, layered locks and chic Bobs were treated to a sleek, polished finish using products from the R+Co BLEU Essential line. Smooth & Seal Blow Dry Mist and Essential Hair Tonic were key in achieving the desired texture and shine.

For models with natural curls, maintaining the integrity of their hair was a priority. "We embraced their natural texture, using products like Soft Bounce Natural Texture & Curl Shampoo & Conditioner and Rebounce Natural Texture & Curl Defining Crème which are designed to enhance and define curls," Garren says. The team was aiming to create the appearance of added length. Employing a technique of smoothing and stretching the curls from root to tip.

As for those sporting a Bob cut, Garren perfected their look with meticulous attention to detail. "We aimed for a polished yet relaxed finish, evoking the iconic style of the '90s," he says.

From delicate chiffons to hand-knit sweaters, each piece in Anna's collection told its own story, and featured rich hues like marmalade, Bristol blue, and black, paired with intricate patterns and textures. As models walked the runway at the historic Strand Bookstore, fashion and storytelling had come together in perfect harmony, leaving everyone in the audience with a lasting impression.
